Kurt Tamaru*
Dr. Kurt Tamaru is Managing Medical Director for Anthem Blue Cross of California, responsible for the implementation and development of new innovative approaches to health care issues that impact the overall quality and cost of care for health plan members. He oversees the regional provider network and grievance & appeals medical directors who are responsible for the clinical relationship with the over 200 delegated HMO medical groups in California. He also oversees the quality review of clinical grievances and health plan appeals.
Dr. Tamaru received his bachelors degree in biological sciences, masters degree in business administration at U.C. Irvine, medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Tamaru completed his internship training in general surgery at UC Davis and family medicine internship and residency training at U.S.C. Upon completing training, Dr. Tamaru went on to practice both hospital and office based patient care including background in military medicine. He is board certified in family medicine and recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians
