Rachel Permuth-Levine, PhD, MSPH is Director of the NHLBI Center for Employee Wellness and Health Promotion at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She received her doctorate in Public and Community Health from University of Maryland and her Master of Science in Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of South Florida. Rachel’s expertise is in health behavior theory, particularly as it is applied to worksite settings. In her tenure at NIH, she has helped create two large public health outreach events, NIH Yoga Week and NIH Conditioning and Relaxation week, and has introduced hundreds of staff to yoga and relaxation practices. She is a frequent speaker at local and national conferences on wellness and she is also a certified yoga and fitness instructor. Rachel received an NIH Award of Merit in April 2009 for her outstanding leadership in providing wellness and health promotion programs to NHLBI and NIH employees.
